Psychologists and coaches often remind us, “You become what you think about most.”
The vision we hold of ourselves—our self-image—eventually comes to fruition.
That’s why it is so important to have a clear vision of the type of person you want to be.
And like most everything else in life, becoming the person you want to be is a choice you get to make.
Are you living the life you want to be living?
I’m not talking about whether you’ve accomplished all your goals, moved into your dream house, or made all the money you want to make. Those are dreams you may be striving towards, but they don’t make you who you are.
True joy comes from living each day as the person you want to be.
Who do you want to be?
Are you working in the field you want to be working in?
Are you being the parent, spouse, and friend you want to be?
Are you living out your faith and values the way you want to?
Are you being the type of leader or mentor you want to be?
By answering these questions truthfully, you build a vision for who you want to be.
Being a person you can be proud of is crucial to your happiness.
Decide right now the type of person you want to be. Hold that vision in your mind and think about it often.
It’s only a matter of time before you become the person you see yourself becoming.
